Montana Marathon : Billings, MT
The Montana Marathon is a point-to-point road race that begins on the rolling plains near Molt and descends into downtown Billings, finishing at Pioneer Park. The course has a net drop of about 1,000 feet and features open rural roads, wide skies and mountain views. The route joins runners from shorter events as it approaches the finish.
Multiple distances are offered:
- Marathon - 26.2 miles
- Half Marathon - 13.1 miles
- 10K - 6 miles
- 5K - 3 miles
For race logistics, most events require shuttle transport to their respective start areas from the Senior High School parking lot; 5K runners drive to their start and are provided post-race shuttles back to parking. There is no parking at the marathon and half marathon start areas. Portapotties are located at the bus loading area, each race start, several points along the course and at the finish in Pioneer Park.
Aid support includes thirteen stations spaced along the marathon course at approximately miles 3, 6, 9, 11, 13, 15, 18, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 25. For safety, the course is open to traffic, volunteers staff most intersections, strollers are not permitted on the marathon or half marathon courses, and dogs are not allowed on any course. Participants are advised to remain on the right side of the road unless directed otherwise and to avoid using earbuds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
