Quad Rock 50 and 25 Mile Trail Races

Quad Rock is a pair of trail races on the trails and hills west of Fort Collins in Lory State Park and Horsetooth Mountain Park. The event offers two distance options with significant elevation gain and predominantly singletrack terrain.

  • 25 miles, about 5,500 feet of vertical gain.
  • 50 miles, about 11,000 feet of net vertical gain.

The course ranges from about 5,444 to 7,087 feet in elevation with an average near 6,200 feet. Terrain is approximately 85% singletrack and 15% dirt road. The loop features multiple major climbs and descents; 50 mile runners complete a second loop in the opposite direction to reach the full distance.

Aid stations are placed along the route, with most fully staffed and stocked with drinks, real food, and alternatives for vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free needs. Two locations are water only or limited aid. Drop bags are allowed at specific aid stations. The course is marked with pink flagging, pin flags, flour markings, and frequent confidence flags on longer stretches.

Entry is capped at 450 runners total with separate allocations for each distance. Race rules include staying on the trail, no pacing, crewing only at designated aid stations, and no dogs on course. Course cutoffs at aid stations are enforced. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
