The event is organized around a 25 mile loop; 50 mile entrants run the same loop a second time in the opposite direction. Reported elevations are: minimum 5,444 ft, maximum 7,087 ft, average about 6,200 ft.
Distances:
- 25 miles (approximately 5,500 ft vertical gain)
- 50 miles (approximately 11,000 ft vertical gain)
The course surface is mainly singletrack with some dirt road sections (about 85% singletrack, 15% dirt road). The route is well marked with pink flagging, pin flags, flour at key intersections and confidence flagging roughly every quarter mile. Wildlife on course can include Abert squirrels, deer and black bears.
Aid stations are staffed and fully stocked except for a Timber unmanned water only location and a limited Arthur’s East stop. Aid station supplies include drink mixes, real foods, hot drinks and GF/vegan alternatives held for those who need them. Drop bags are permitted at designated aid stations. Course cutoffs and time limits apply; the 50 mile race has a 14 hour allowance and the 25 mile race a 12.5 hour allowance.
Field size is capped at 450 entrants total (200 for 50 miles, 250 for 25 miles). Entries are non refundable and transfers are restricted to the wait list or the event transfer procedures described by the organizer. Crewing is allowed only at designated aid stations and pacers are not permitted. Dogs are not allowed on course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
