About the race
Quad Rock is a pair of trail races held on the trails west of Fort Collins in Lory State Park and Horsetooth Mountain Park. The event offers two main options:
- 25 miles : approximately 5,500 feet total vertical gain
- 50 miles : approximately 11,000 feet total vertical gain
The first 25 mile loop runs clockwise from Soldier Canyon; 50 mile entrants run that loop a second time in the opposite direction. The course mixes about 85% singletrack with 15% dirt road and ranges from 5,444 to 7,087 feet in elevation, with an average elevation near 6,200 feet. Wildlife in the area includes Abert squirrels, deer, and black bears.
Aid stations are staffed and stocked at most locations; one Timber aid station is intended as unmanned water only and Arthur’s East offers limited aid. Typical aid station provisions include drink mixes, gels and bars, water and ice, salty snacks, fruit, sweets, hot drinks, sandwiches and warm food, plus gluten free and vegan alternatives held for those who request them. The course is marked with pink flagging, flour markings and confidence flagging roughly every quarter mile. Permanent restrooms are available at main trailheads and additional portable toilets are provided at the start/finish.
Registration is capped at 450 total entrants (200 for the 50 mile distance and 250 for the 25 mile distance). Entries are non refundable and a waitlist and transfer/deferral credit policies are in place. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
