Immigrants Run NYC 5K Run/Walk - Queens Distance Runners
This event is a 5-kilometer run/walk held in Queens on February 14. Registration is not yet open. Queens Distance Runners organizes the event to highlight immigrant communities and to connect residents with local organizations that provide resources and support.
Half of event proceeds will be shared with N.I.C.E. The course loops through Flushing Meadows Corona Park and passes notable park landmarks such as the Queens Unisphere and the New York State Pavilion. Packet pickup is near the Queens Unisphere; parking is available at the Queens Museum building on Meridian Road, a short walk to packet pickup.
A virtual participation option is available. Virtual participants may upload finish times and photos beginning on Race Day and through the following Sunday; tracking methods noted include measured tracks, treadmills, and running apps. Virtual entries may receive mailed materials within a shipping window that spans from about one week before to one week after the event.
Race-day amenities listed include live online/text/email results, free finish-line photos and video, and a personalized bib for those registered at least three weeks in advance. A race DJ and post-race music were included previously, and hot cocoa was distributed at a prior edition. Age-group recognition is planned across multiple categories including 19 & Under, 20-29, 30-39, 10-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
