Purple Run - March 21, 2026
The Purple Run is a themed running event at Sunset Regional Park, History Walk Trails, 2601 East Sunset Road, Las Vegas, NV. The event honors the Purple Rain era and uses purple as a unifying color; costumes and purple running gear are encouraged. The color purple is also noted as associated with several causes including Alzheimer’s disease, animal abuse, eating disorders, and victims of 9/11.
Distances offered include:
- 5K - 3.1 miles (one lap)
- 10K - two laps of the 5K course
- 1/2 Marathon - three identical laps of 4.37 miles each (total 13.11 miles)
The course runs on the paved History Walk trails, fully separated from vehicular traffic, and is mostly flat with slight inclines and declines. The route is walker and stroller friendly and includes views of the Las Vegas Strip, Frenchman's Mountain, and nearby park wildlife.
Event services and logistics: race entries include a technical shirt, finishers' medal, event timing, post-race food, award eligibility, and aid stations. Aid stations are spaced approximately 1-2 miles and provide cupped water and Gatorade. All finishers receive medals; overall and age-group award rules are applied based on gun time. Parking is at Sunset Regional Park with access recommended from the Eastern Avenue south entrance. A tarp at the start/finish serves as an unsecured gear bag area.
A specified area near the start/finish functions as a tribute space for Prince dedications; items must be removed by management after the event and are not guaranteed to be retrieved. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
