Purple Polka Dot Race
The Purple Polka Dot Race is a community walk/run scheduled for August 9, 2026, at Stony Creek Metropark. The event includes timed and untimed distances plus a family fun run.

- Family fun run
The race was founded after a family discovered their child has a port wine stain, a type of vascular birthmark. The child receives laser treatments that produce temporary purple polka dots, and the event aims to raise awareness, encourage acceptance of vascular birthmarks, and provide education about related medical and community resources.
All funds raised by the Purple Polka Dot Race support the Vascular Anomalies Alliance (VAA), a nonprofit foundation focused on the vascular birthmark community. Over the past nine years the event has helped raise more than $200,000 for that community. Organizers previously set a 2025 fundraising goal of $20,000 to support VAA programming.
Information about past races, sponsors, galleries, and results is maintained by the organizers. The event description emphasizes community support, fundraising for the VAA, and outreach about vascular birthmarks. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
