Event Overview
The Pulborough Vineyards Run takes place at Nutbourne Vineyards in West Sussex, offering a variety of distances on a multi-lap course. Participants run or walk through the countryside with views stretching toward the South Downs. The event is limited to 100 participants to maintain a small-scale atmosphere. The route is entirely off-road, consisting mainly of firm grass, mud, and stony walking tracks. Each 2.5 km lap includes two hills and three public footpath stiles to cross.
Course and Distances
The event uses a lap-based system where participants can decide their final distance on the day of the race, provided they finish within the 2.5-hour time limit. Available distances include:
- 5 km (two laps)
- 7.5 km (three laps)
- 10 km (four laps)
- 12.5 km (five laps)
- 15 km (six laps)
- 17.5 km (seven laps)
- 20 km (eight laps)
- 21 km / Half marathon (eight laps plus an additional segment)
Facilities and Logistics
The start and finish area is located at the mill next to the wine lodge. A water station is available every 2.5 km, and a key drop service is provided at the finish line. On-site facilities include permanent indoor toilets, though there are no dedicated changing rooms. Free parking is available at the vineyard, and the organizers encourage carsharing.
Finishers and Spectators
Upon completion, participants receive a medal, a bottle of water, a hot drink, a glass of wine, and a selection of cakes. Spectators can watch from the wine lodge, where refreshments are available for purchase. While children and dogs on leads are welcome at the venue, dogs are not permitted on the race course itself.
