Event overview
Proud to Run: Pride Race is a community running event held in Chicago at Montrose Grove 16 (400 W Montrose Harbor Dr). The event includes multiple race options:
- 5k Walk
- 5k Run
- 10k Run
Every participant receives a Proud to Run tank top and finishers receive a medal. Technical hats and a crossbody bag are available for purchase during registration, at packet pickup, or on race day. The event is organized by an all-volunteer board and is run by Proud to Run Chicago, a 501(c)(3) charity that supports organizations empowering the LGBTQ+ community. Gifts to Proud to Run are tax deductible for United States federal income tax purposes, subject to IRS rules. Fleet Feet is listed as the official athletic retail partner.
Course and logistics
Course materials note a course change for 2025 due to construction on bridges and underpasses. The revised route emphasizes runner safety and includes extended views along the lakeshore. Participants are advised to use caution on two-way course sections and on the segment north of Foster Beach that runs along the lake. The 10k route returns through the start area and contains a split; runners on the 10k are instructed to stay right at the split and not to continue through the finish line if they miss the split. Adaptive athletes are welcome and must notify the Race Director at least seven days before the event to arrange Early Starters corral placement. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
