2026 Hope for Horses 5k & 10k
This event on April 4 takes place at Prince William Forest Park, 18100 Park Entrance Road, Triangle VA. It offers trail races over two distances:
- 5k
- 10k
Points from the race count toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k, and Back of the Pack series, and also toward the Spring Series. A virtual race option is available for participants who cannot attend in person. The event provides chip timing, a finisher’s coin, and a technical event shirt. T-shirts are guaranteed for runners registered before March 25; extra shirts are limited.
The course uses a new trail route in the park. The route includes hills and technical trail elements such as roots, rocks, and inclines. Water stations are placed at approximately mile markers 0.7 and 2.4 on the 5k, and at 0.7, 2.9, 4.1, and 5.5 on the 10k; some stations will offer Gatorade. Restrooms are located near the visitor center.
Awards are given to the top three men and women overall and to first and second place in age categories from 19 and under through 70 plus. The Back of the Pack is a series category rather than a cutoff; the Back of the Pack time is listed as 13:00 for both distances. Race results are posted live and finalized after the event. Packet pickup is available at the event; there will be no on-site race registration on race day. Parking is off the main park road near coordinates 38.558624, -77.343487.
