Event overview
The Hope for Horses 5k & 10k is a trail running event at Prince William Forest Park, Triangle, VA on April 4, 2026. Distances offered include:

Points from the event count toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k, and Back of the Pack series, and toward the organizer's Spring Series. A virtual race option is available.
Course and support
The course is a trail route that includes hills and technical obstacles such as roots, rocks, and inclines. The 10k course will have four water stations at approximately mile markers 0.7, 2.9, 4.1, and 5.5. The 5k course will have two water stations at approximately 0.7 and 2.4 miles. Gatorade will be available at some water stations. Restrooms are located near the visitor center. Parking is off the main road into the park at latitude 38.558624, longitude -77.343487.
Registration, items, and timing
Runners receive a finisher’s coin, a technical (Dri-FIT) event shirt, and chip timing. Early registration fees include the park entrance fee: the 5k is listed at $35 until March 15 ($40 after), and the 10k at $50 until March 15 ($55 after); prices increase by $5 on race morning. T-shirts are guaranteed for runners registered before March 25. There will be no on-site race registration.
Results and awards
Live results will be posted online during the event and final results with series points will be posted the Monday after the race. Awards are given to the top three men and women overall, and 1st and 2nd place male and female in age groups: 19 & Under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Runners who place top three overall are not eligible to also win age groups.
Charity and other notes
The event benefits Hope For Horses, a nonprofit focused on rescuing and retraining off-the-track thoroughbreds and educating the public on horse care. The organizer runs the event as an all-weather race; officials may delay, change, or cancel the event for safety or weather reasons. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
