PPTC Al Goldstein Speed Series 5K
The Prospect Park Track Club runs a summer series of 5K races in Prospect Park, held on alternating Wednesday evenings. The scheduled 2026 race dates are May 20, June 3, June 17, July 1, July 15, July 29, August 12, with August 26 reserved as a weather makeup date. Series bibs have sold out; individual race bibs are released in advance for each race.
Races start on East Drive at Center Drive, roughly a quarter mile north of the Concert Grove Pavilion, and finish on East Drive at Harrys Wall. Race Central and bag check are located at the Concert Grove Pavilion. Bathrooms are available at the LeFrak Center at Lakeside and a nearby public restroom may be closed at race time. Water fountains are at Harrys Wall and the LeFrak Center, with an on-course station before the two mile mark and water at the finish.
The course is USATF certified, certification code NY23032DNB, and has a time limit of 15 minutes per mile. Walkers are welcome; strollers and pets are not permitted for liability reasons. Awards are given for the top three runners in each category and age group, and runners who complete all seven races receive a series medal. A team scoring pilot uses mixed gender teams with scoring based on each team’s top five finishers, subject to specified gender composition rules.
