Trail Running at Powisset Farm
The Powisset Farm Trail Run - Spring is a trail racing event held at Powisset Farm in Dover, Massachusetts. The event utilizes the trails of both Powisset Farm and the neighboring Noanet Woodlands. Participants can choose from several race distances:
- 8.6 Miles
- 5.6 Miles
- 3.1 Miles
- 1.5 Miles
All races begin and end at Powisset Farm near the main barn. The initial 1.5 miles of the courses take place on the Meadow Loop trail, which consists of flat, grassy terrain. This section features views of the working farm, historic stone walls, century-old fencing, and bird boxes.
The longer distances extend into the Noanet Woodlands. The terrain in this area includes wide paths and single-track sections composed of hard-packed dirt, loose gravel, and exposed roots. The 5.6 mile and 8.6 mile routes involve a steep climb and descent of Noanet Peak, which reaches an elevation of 387 feet. Runners in the 8.6 mile category complete two loops within the Noanet Woodlands but only ascend the peak once. The 3.1 mile distance explores the woodland trails with rolling hills but does not include the peak ascent. The 1.5 mile distance remains exclusively on the flat Meadow Loop trail at the farm.
