Portland Trail Series
The Portland Trail Series is a low-key series of evening trail running events held in Forest Park in Portland. The program is organized as three Series of five races each (Spring, Summer, Fall), held between April and October on Wednesday evenings. Races are scheduled every other week.
Each race covers a different, marked course of approximately 4–7 miles and includes hilly terrain. One course per Series may be designated a Mystery Route: the distance is announced in advance but the specific trails are not posted until after the race, and the course is marked on race day.
Series standings include runners who complete at least four races in a given Series. A post-Series gathering is held after the final race at the Lucky Lab Beer Hall, where awards for Series and age group winners are presented and a raffle is held.
Registration options noted by the organizer include full Series registration with tiered fees for the Summer Series and single-race drop-in registration for a cash fee at the race to offset no-shows. The published policy states there are no transfers and no refunds; cancellations more than 30 days before a race receive a 50% credit toward a future event, and cancellations 30 days or less from race day receive no credit. Parking on city streets is free and a public carpool spreadsheet is referenced for ride sharing. Coaching resources and standard race rules are listed by the organizer. The Series benefits the Forest Park Conservancy. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
