Popple Shoot Trail Races
Popple Shoot Trail Races takes place on May 9, 2026 in Minong, Wisconsin, with start and finish at Wild River Campground (802 Railroad St). The event offers four distances:
- 87K
- 62K
- 25K
- 10K
Courses use a mix of surfaces and formats. Surfaces include the Wild Rivers Trail (old railroad bed, crushed gravel), single lane ATV trails (dirt), and county roads (paved and dirt). The 87K is a large loop with an additional smaller loop; the 62K is a single loop; the 25K is an out-and-back; the 10K is mostly a single loop with a short out-and-back. The organizer states total elevation gain and loss is minor.
Aid station support varies by distance. The 87K has eight fully stocked aid stations and one water only station; the 62K has six fully stocked and one water only; the 25K has one fully stocked and two water only; the 10K has one water only. Aid station food includes sandwiches, cookies, bananas, electrolyte drink, water and other items. Distances between aid stations range from about 2.5 to 7.8 miles.
Awards are given to the top male and female in overall, Open (39 and under), Masters (40 to 49) and Grand Masters (50 and over). The event is Trail Sisters approved.
