Ponderosa Polar Challenge
The Ponderosa Polar Challenge is an endurance running event held at Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort near Zion National Park on November 7-9, 2026. The venue sits at about 6,500 feet elevation and typical temperatures at that time of year range from roughly 32 degrees at night to 60 degrees during the day.
The course uses short looped trails that can be combined to reach chosen distances. Organizers provide measured loops and marked out-and-back sections for uneven distances. Lap counting methods vary by distance: rubber bands or bib marks for shorter events and a colored clothespin system with video verification for longer distances.
The event includes a single aid station located at a cabin. The aid station offers a variety of drinks, cooked food, snacks, ice, and basic first aid supplies. Registration for each participant includes campsite access for three nights and access to bathrooms and showers. Additional amenities available on site include a hot tub, pool, and courts. Participants in longer distances receive extra meal service and specific finisher items such as mugs or belt buckles depending on distance.
Pacers may join after the 30 mile mark for ultra distances and must register for a bib and waiver. Spectators, crew, and pacers require purchased lodging or campsite access to use on-site facilities.
