About the race
Polar Night Marathon takes place in Tromsø on 9 January 2027 during the polar night. The race runs in the blue arctic light common to the period before the sun returns and is organised as city street races in Tromsø.
The event offers four road race distances:
- Ishavskraft Maraton
- Polar Night Halvmaraton
- Mørketidsmila (10 km)

The marathon distance is measured and certified, and the event is a member of AIMS. Along the route spectators use lights and cheer the runners, and the timing of the event coincides with a period when the northern lights may be visible.
