About the race
Polar Bear Run in Fergus and Elora is a winter trail running event held on snow-covered trails along the Grand River and nearby forest paths. The event offers three distances:
- 5 km trail run
- 10 km trail run
- Half marathon (21.1 km) winter trail run
Runners and walkers follow winding, snow-dusted trails that pass river views and wooded terrain. The organizer lists chip timing for precise results, a finisher medal, a T-shirt, and post-race hot drinks such as coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. Prizes and snacks are provided, and medals are awarded to participants. The event includes an award for the fastest male and fastest female called "The Polar Bear" Trophy.
Parking is noted at 35 Farley Road, Fergus (Grace Christian Fellowship). The event is described as family friendly and accommodates both runners and walkers. Map routes are indicated as coming soon.
This event also functions as a fundraiser for Servant's Heart Ministry. All proceeds support the ministry's work feeding and clothing people in the community. The stated fundraising goal is CA$35,000 to purchase a dedicated food delivery truck. Servant's Heart provides free food hampers to nearly 100 families every two weeks and hosts a free clothing market three times per year.
