Polar Bear Grand Prix - River City Races
The Polar Bear Grand Prix is a three-race winter series produced by River City Races. The series takes place across December, January and February and is presented for its 23rd year. Each race in the series awards a finisher medal, and the three medals fit together to form the Polar Bear Grand Prix finisher medal. In addition to each race goodie, the first 500 entrants at each race will receive a bonus goodie.
The series is scored using a points format. Awards are given to the top three Men and top three Women overall, to the overall Male and Female Master and Grandmaster, and to the top three in multiple age groups: 9 and under; 10-14; 15-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-74; 75-79; 80 and over.
The Polar Bear Grand Prix Team Challenge is open to teams of three to five people in Male, Female, or Coed divisions. The fastest three on each team are scored and Coed teams must score at least one woman. Teams may enter any individual race or all three. There is no additional fee to participate in the Team Challenge.
The series has a charity partner, the Olmsted Parks Conservancy. There is an option to fundraise or donate and raising $150 or more waives the entry fee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
