2026 Pohick Bay 5k and 10k
The event takes place on October 4, 2026 at Pohick Bay Regional Park in Lorton, Virginia. It is a forest trail run held mostly on dirt paths with some considerable inclines. Walkers are welcome and a virtual run option is available for those who cannot attend in person.
Course details include:
- 5 km - out-and-back on a forest trail
- 10 km - two laps of the 5k course
Runners receive a finisher medal, a technical Drifit event shirt, and the event is chip timed. Water stations are placed along the courses: four stations on the 10k at approximately mile markers 1.55, 3.1, 4.4, and 5.9, and one station on the 5k at about mile 1.55; Gatorade is available at some stations. Port-a-johns will be available at the race.
Awards are presented to the top three men and women overall and to first and second place male and female in age groups 19 and under, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 and over. Top three overall finishers are not eligible for age group awards.
Points from this race count toward the Year-Long 5k and Back of the Pack series and toward the Fall Series. The Back of the Pack reference time is 13:30 for series purposes. Registration fees change before and after September 15 and t shirts are guaranteed for runners registered before September 23. Race day registration and packet pickup are available at the event but shirt sizes cannot be guaranteed for late registrants. Live results are posted on Athlinks and a QR code will be available at the race for immediate result access. Proceeds benefit the Lorton Community Action Center, a local human services nonprofit.
