Pleasants Landing Triathlon
Pleasants Landing Triathlon is held at Pleasants Landing Marina on Lake Anna in October. The event offers both Olympic and Sprint triathlon distances and includes aquabike options. The swim courses use in-water starts from the south side of transition and finish on the north side; sighting buoys are placed throughout and the swim is spectator friendly around the peninsula. Water temperatures in this part of the lake are expected in the mid to upper 70s in mid-October and a temperature reading is posted the Thursday before the event.
- Olympic: 1.5K swim; 24 mile bike; 10K run.
- Sprint: 750 m swim; 12.2 mile bike; 5K run.
Olympic bike is two loops on rolling, well paved roads with varied terrain and lake views; the sprint bike is a single loop on low-traffic pavement with some short climbs. The run routes include out-and-back sections, short wooded and gravel connectors, and finishes adjacent to the transition area. The site and finish area are surrounded by water with views to the west of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
The race is USA Triathlon sanctioned. Packet pickup is offered Friday evening at the marina and on race morning; photo ID is required. Parking at the venue is limited and off-site parking is about 1/4 mile away. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
