Pleasants Landing Triathlon
Pleasants Landing Triathlon takes place at Pleasants Landing Marina on Lake Anna in Bumpass, VA on October 10, 2026. The event includes both Olympic and Sprint triathlon formats, plus aquabike divisions and relay teams. The race site and finish area sit on a peninsula with water on multiple sides and views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Distances offered
- Olympic triathlon: 1.5K swim, 24 mile bike, 10K run
- Sprint triathlon: 750 m swim, 12.2 mile bike, 5K run
The swim uses a time trial start in the southeast portion of Lake Anna, in water starts at the marina, and courses that are spectator friendly as family and friends can follow athletes around the peninsula. Water temperatures in this section are expected to be in the mid to upper 70s in mid October; a temperature reading is taken and posted before the event.
Bike courses use paved, low traffic roads with rolling terrain and mostly right turns. The Olympic bike is two loops while the Sprint bike is a single loop. The marina entrance road is closed to traffic during the cycling portion except for emergency vehicles and late arrivals are directed to off site parking a quarter mile away.
Run courses are out and back, leaving transition through a short woods and gravel section to paved, lightly rolling roads that pass fields, forest and the South Anna River. Participants receive event shirts, socks, a finisher medal, and post race food and drink. The race is USA Triathlon sanctioned and offers age group, specialty categories, and relay scoring.
