Pleasants Landing Triathlon : Pleasants Landing Marina, Lake Anna
The Pleasants Landing Triathlon festival in Bumpass, VA, offers Olympic and Sprint triathlon and aquabike options at Pleasants Landing Marina on Lake Anna on October 10, 2026. The event is USA Triathlon sanctioned and uses a time trial swim start where athletes enter the water one at a time.
Distances offered:
- Olympic Triathlon: 1.5K swim; 24 mi bike; 10K run
- Olympic Aquabike: 1.5K swim; 24 mi bike
- Sprint Triathlon: 750 m swim; 12.2 mi bike; 5K run
- Sprint Aquabike: 750 m swim; 12.2 mi bike
Swim courses begin with an in-water start on the south side of the transition area and exit on the north side. The Olympic swim is triangular; the sprint swim is rectangular. Sighting buoys are placed regularly and the swim course is described as spectator friendly, allowing family and friends to follow athletes around the peninsula. Water temperatures in this section of the lake are expected in the mid to upper 70s in October.
The Olympic bike is a two-loop, rolling 23 mile route on paved roads with mostly right turns. The sprint bike is a single-loop, roughly 12 mile route on low-traffic, well paved roads with rolling and flat sections. During cycling, the marina entrance road is closed to regular traffic and late arrivals are directed to off-site parking about a quarter mile away.
Run courses are out-and-back routes that include short sections through woods and gravel roads and paved stretches by fields, forest and the South Anna River. Participant categories include Overall, Masters, Age Group, Aquabike, Military, Clydesdale, Athena and Relay Teams. Packet pickup occurs on Friday and Saturday at the marina; photo ID is required for packet collection. Registrations are non-refundable and a USA Triathlon membership or one-day license is required. Event swag for 2026 includes a tech T-shirt, finisher medal, race socks and free finisher photos. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
