Pleasants Landing Triathlon
Pleasants Landing hosts Olympic and Sprint triathlons and aquabike races on October 10, 2026 at Pleasants Landing Marina on Lake Anna in Bumpass, VA. The event sold out the previous year.
Distances offered include:
- Olympic: 1.5K swim, about 24 mile bike, 10K run
- Sprint: 750 m swim, about 12 mile bike, 5K run
- Aquabike options match swim and bike distances
The swim is a time trial in the southeast portion of Lake Anna, with an in-water start on the south side of the transition area. The location sits near where the warm and cold sides of the lake meet, producing water temperatures a few degrees warmer than elsewhere in mid-October; organizers expect mid to upper 70s and will post a reading the Thursday before the event. The Olympic swim follows a triangular course while the sprint uses a rectangular course; sighting buoys are placed frequently and the peninsula setting allows good spectator access.
Bike courses use local paved roads and vary by distance. The Olympic bike uses two loops around and across the lake with mostly right turns and rolling terrain; the sprint is a single loop with rolling sections and short climbs. The marina entrance road is closed to general traffic during cycling and off-site parking is about a quarter mile away. Run courses are out-and-back routes on paved roads with short sections through woods and gravel near the transition area.
The event is USA Triathlon sanctioned. Categories include age group, overall, masters, aquabike, relay, military, Clydesdale and Athena. Packet pickup is available the day before and the morning of the race at the marina. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
