Pleasants Landing Triathlon : event overview
The Pleasants Landing Triathlon is scheduled for October 10, 2026 at Pleasants Landing Marina, Lake Anna, in Bumpass, VA (349 Pleasants Landing Road, Bumpass, VA 23024). The event is USA Triathlon sanctioned and is open to athletes aged 12 and older. Race formats offered on the day include Olympic and Sprint triathlons, Olympic and Sprint aquabike events, and 2-3 person relays. Course details and logistics
Swims use a time trial start with two athletes sent every few seconds; an Elite Box Start is used for athletes positioned at the front. The Olympic swim follows a triangular course and the Sprint swim a rectangular course, both beginning on the south side of the transition area and exiting on the north side; sighting buoys are placed every 50-75 m. Water temperatures in the southeast portion of Lake Anna are expected to be in the mid to upper 70s Fahrenheit due to local lake circulation. The Olympic bike is a two-loop, rolling route around and across the lake on paved roads; the Sprint bike is a single rolling loop with a few short climbs. Both run courses include short wooded or gravel approaches from transition and paved out-and-back sections. Parking is limited, with an off-site lot about 1/4 mile away used for late arrivals; the marina entrance road is closed to general traffic during the cycling portion.
