Pleasant Valley Twilight Challenge
The Pleasant Valley Twilight Challenge returns for its 36th year at Pleasant Valley Park in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. This community event takes place at 3405 Valley Road and features a variety of outdoor activities on a mixed-terrain course. Participants can choose from the following events:
- 5K Race: A multi-surface run involving two cross-country loops on woodchip, grass, and road surfaces.
- 1 Mile Health Walk: A scenic walk through the park led by the Somerset Hills YMCA.
- Kids Lollipop Loop: A free run for children on a grassy field.
The 5K Race includes professional chip timing, course clocks, and a halfway split provided by Compuscore. Aid stations are positioned at the midpoint of the course and at the finish line. Pre-registered participants in the 5K and the Health Walk are eligible to receive a t-shirt and race bag, though sizes are subject to availability for those who register after early May.
The event grounds offer live music and light refreshments once participants complete their distances. Post-race activities include a group stretch and an awards ceremony. Awards are presented to the top overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three runners in age groups ranging from 14 and under to 80 and over.
