Pleasant Mountain Race - September 27, 2026
Pleasant Mountain Race is a 21k trail event in Bridgton, ME, organized by the Loon Echo Race Series and based at the Pleasant Mountain East Lodge (305 Mountain Road). The course uses technical single track and traverses the mountain ridge, and the event includes an afterparty with a food truck, beer from Norway Brewing Co (21+), and live music. Participants registered by 9/1 are guaranteed a tech t-shirt; all entrants receive a food truck ticket and a beer ticket (non-alcoholic beverages also available). Finishers receive a 2026 Pleasant Mountain Race finisher medal.
The course profile includes steep ridge climbs and technical descents. Early in the race participants face about 1700 feet of climbing in roughly 2 miles up Bald Peak, then descend via Firewarden's trail before moving toward the Southwest Ridge Trailhead. From there the route gains about 1900 feet in 2.5 miles to the summit, follows the northern ridge, and descends Sue’s Way before returning to Bald Peak and down to Mountain Road for the finish. Course map, elevation profile, and a GPX file are provided by the organizers.
There is one aid station at the Southwest Ridge Trailhead offering sweet and salty snacks, water, and Tailwind. Mandatory gear to be checked at bib pickup includes at least 500 mL of water, at least 400 calories, a windbreaker or rain shell, a space or emergency foil blanket, and a headlamp. Organizers note additional encouraged items such as 1 L of water, hat, gloves, and a fleece or puffy.
