Pleasant Mountain Race
The Pleasant Mountain Race is a trail event in Bridgton, ME held on Sunday, September 27, 2026. The race is organized by the Loon Echo Race Series and is staged at the Pleasant Mountain East Lodge, 305 Mountain Road. The course distance is 21k and both the start and finish are at the East Lodge.
The route uses single-track and ridge trails. Almost immediately participants face about 1,700 feet of climbing in roughly 2 miles up Bald Peak, then descend via Firewarden’s Trail. The course skirts the base to the Southwest Ridge Trailhead, where there is about 1,900 feet of gain in approximately 2.5 miles to the summit. From there the route crosses the northern ridge and descends the technical Sue’s Way trail, reconnects with Bald Peak, drops to Mountain Road, and returns to the East Lodge. A course map and elevation profile are provided in the race photos and a GPX file is available.
There is one aid station at the Southwest Ridge Trailhead offering sweet and salty snacks, water, and Tailwind. Mandatory gear will be checked at bib pickup and includes at least 500 mL of water, at least 400 calories, a windbreaker or rain shell, a space or emergency foil blanket, and a headlamp. Runners are encouraged to carry additional layers and extra water.
Entry fees vary by date with early and later pricing. Registered participants receive a tech t-shirt if signed up by September 1 to guarantee size, a food truck ticket with a gluten free option, a beer ticket for ages 21 and over, and nonalcoholic beverages. Finishers receive a 2026 Pleasant Mountain Race finisher medal. Proceeds benefit the Loon Echo Land Trust.
