Plaisir Sunday Hike : Plaisir Wine Estate, Simondium
The Plaisir Sunday Hike is a self paced, curated outdoor lifestyle event at Plaisir Wine Estate in Simondium, Wes-Kaap. The route is a marked round trip of approximately 9.6 km, with a 5 km ascent to a viewpoint that gains about 330 m on slightly technical single track, and a 4.6 km return through forest and vineyard trails. The total outing typically takes 3 to 4 hours including time at the viewpoint picnic area.
The event is not a race or guided hike. It includes access to the estate hiking route, a marked trail to the viewpoint and back, a curated viewpoint picnic atmosphere, a complimentary taste of selected estate wine or a welcome snack, a conservancy contribution, and event management and safety oversight.
Entry is charged per person at R199. Pensioners receive a 50% discount and children younger than 14 attend free. The concept centers on a bring your own picnic approach; a small welcome refreshment is provided at the viewpoint.
Participants are asked to remain on marked trails, respect the environment, and follow restrictions such as no fires, no loud music, and no drones. The route is described as accessible to most hikers with moderate fitness and basic hiking experience. The event may be affected by weather and has limited capacity on each date.
