Pittsburgh Penguins 6.6K Run and Family Walk
The event takes place on October 4, 2026 at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, PA. It offers in-person and virtual participation and supports cancer research and patient care through the Mario Lemieux Foundation as well as youth initiatives of the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation.
Distances offered:
- 6.6K Run (timed; includes short-sleeve tech shirt and finishing medal)
- 3.3K Walk Individual (includes short-sleeve tech shirt and finishing medal)
- 3.3K Walk Family Group of Four (four shirts and four medals)
- 6.6K Virtual Run or Walk (shirt and medal mailed to virtual participants)
The in-person 6.6K course starts and finishes at PPG Paints Arena, crosses two bridges, passes through the Armstrong Tunnel, and returns to the arena. The 6.6K run allows walking participants who maintain a minimum 20-minute pace. Virtual participants may complete their 6.6K any time from their registration date through October 4 and must submit their time by October 4 to receive shirt and medal; virtual race packets are mailed after the event.
Registration includes a raffle entry for all participants; winning numbers are selected at random and prizes are mailed. Age category awards and cash prizes are based on chip time for in-person competitors; virtual participants are not eligible for age category awards. Transfers between events are allowed for a fee and the difference in cost through October 3.
