Pirates and Princesses of the Peninsula
The Autism Society of Tidewater Virginia presents a community event on March 20, 2027 at 51 Copeland Lane, Newport News, VA. The program combines a 2 mile walk and run with an Autism Resource Fair where local service providers, nonprofits, public agencies, educational partners, and healthcare organizations share information about programs and supports.
The resource fair brings together organizations and businesses so families can explore services, ask questions, and learn about options available across the Peninsula. The event includes family activities, a themed pirate and princess atmosphere with costumes encouraged, a Treasure Quest among booths, and food truck options on site.
Organizers describe the event as inclusive and adaptable, intended to allow individuals of varying abilities to participate in ways that work for them. Participation in specific activities is optional.
Intended participants include families of autistic individuals, people with related disabilities, caregivers, educators, service providers, community organizations, and local businesses. The event also provides opportunities for community partners to connect with families and identify unmet needs.
Registration for the walk has a fee of $20; guests 5 years old and under are free. Additional registration details and opportunities to participate as a resource partner are available from the event organizer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
