PIONEERS Run Crew 9-Year Anniversary 10K
PIONEERS Run Crew marks its ninth anniversary with a 10K event on Saturday, August 1, held at the Dorchester Shores Pavilion in Dorchester, Massachusetts (555 Talbot Ave). The organization was founded in 2017 with a stated mission to make running more accessible and equitable for BIPOC communities in Boston and beyond. The group describes three guiding aims: explore neighborhoods and bodies, motivate community members, and inspire running culture and future runners.
The event consists of a 10K route that takes participants along the JFK/Castle Island area. The organizer will provide water stations, snacks, and a finishers medal for participants. An anniversary gathering labeled "After-Vibes" will take place immediately following the race to reflect on the year and celebrate community activities.
Registration for the event is paid; there is no day-of registration. Runners of varying paces and experience levels are welcome, and there will be a designated cheer zone for spectators. The tone of the event emphasizes community, reflection on past activity, and looking toward future programming under the group’s stated mission of accessibility and equity.
