Event Overview
The Pink Ribbon Run is a fundraising sports event held in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Organized by Coastal Race Productions and the Grand Strand Running Club, the event supports local charities focused on assisting families affected by cancer. The courses primarily wind through the Barefoot Resort area, utilizing a common start and finish line near the marina.
Participants can choose from three individual distances or take part in a specific multi-race challenge. The event features designated memorial sections along the route, including Dedication Drive, Karen’s Corner, and Shelly’s Lane, where tribute signs are displayed to honor those touched by cancer.
Distances and Challenge
Available distances include:
- 10 km: A USATF certified course with two water stops.
- 5 km: A USATF certified course with one water station.
- 1 mile: A short-distance run or walk.
- Pink Ribbon Run Challenge: A combined event involving the completion of all three distances (10.3 miles total).
To complete the multi-race challenge, participants must maintain a minimum pace of 14.5 minutes per mile to transition between the scheduled starts.
Logistics
Parking is located at the House of Blues parking lot, with a free shuttle service provided to transport participants and spectators to the starting area, approximately 0.75 miles away. The courses are USATF certified and monitored by police and traffic control, though some sections remain open to vehicular traffic. Due to safety and insurance regulations, dogs and companion riders on bicycles are not permitted on the course.
Post-race awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers, top three masters, and winners within five-year age groups for the 5 km and 10 km categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
