Race Details

The run and bike segments start and finish at Seward High School. The course terrain is described as having inclines and includes high school cross-country trails, city streets, and minimal gravel roads. Snow may be present on the trails in early May. The 5K run requires two laps for completion. The bike route is mostly paved but can be muddy with potholes and loose gravel; road or hybrid bikes are recommended.

The 600-yard swim takes place in a pool, with two swimmers sharing one full lane. Swimmers have the option to complete their segment early (between 8:00 and 9:30 AM) if they can swim 12 laps in 15 minutes or less. Team swimmers begin their segment at the official 10:00 AM start time. Showers are available in the pool locker room for participants post-race.

Rules and Logistics

Specific rules include: bikers must wear a helmet (disqualification occurs without one) and provide their own bike stand. No spectators are allowed in the pool area. Bib numbers are marked on the participant's right upper arm. No assistive devices like snorkels or fins are allowed in the pool, though goggles and swim caps are permitted. Same-day registration is not allowed. Bib pick-up is available the day before the race at the AVTEC gym or on race day at Seward High School.

Cutoff Times

The event has cutoff times for each segment: 90 minutes for the run, 90 minutes for the bike, and 45 minutes for the swim. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
