Event Overview
This is the 19th annual Pinhoti 100, a point-to-point ultramarathon. It takes place in Sylacauga, Alabama, and Heflin, Alabama, on a course through the Talladega National Forest.
Course Details
The course is 100 miles long and must be completed within 32 hours. It is a point-to-point route on the Pinhoti Trail, starting at Pine Glen Campground in the Choccolocco Wildlife Management Area and finishing at Sylaward Trail Head (Lake Howard) in Sylacauga. The terrain consists of 83 miles of single track trail, 17 miles of jeep road, and 2 miles of pavement. It traverses the highest point in Alabama.
Registration and Logistics
Registration is handled online. The event is a Western States 100 qualifier. Participants must check in and pick up their race packets the day before the race; there is no race-day packet pickup. An optional $15 bus service is available to transport runners from the finish area to the start line on race morning. The race starts at 6:00 AM CST.
Aid Stations and Support
There are 17 aid stations along the course, including several designated for drop bags and specific stations where crew access is allowed for vehicles with odd- or even-numbered crew passes. Basic restrooms or porta-johns are available at the start, several aid stations, and the finish.
Post-Race
All finishers receive a belt buckle. Awards are given to the top three overall male and female runners, as well as the first overall male and female masters and grand masters. Camping is available at the finish line for a $10 donation, offering primitive sites with bathroom access. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
