The 50 Miler is a point to point course from Porter’s Gap (Hwy 77) to the Sylaward Trail at Lake Howard. It uses about 31 miles of Pinhoti single-track across Horn Mountain and Rebecca Mountain, followed by forest service roads and about 12 miles on the Sylaward Trails. Total elevation gain for the 50 Miler is approximately 5,171 feet. The 50 Miler has a 16 hour time limit.
The 50K follows the same route as the 50 Miler for roughly the first 19 miles, then continues on a forest service road before joining the Sylaward Trails into the finish. The 50K has a 10 hour time limit.
The 25K is a lollipop course starting and finishing at Lake Howard, following Sylaward Trails to Bill’s Creek Loop and returning to Lake Howard.
Logistics include packet pickup on the days before and on race morning at Lake Howard and the race start. Bus transportation from Lake Howard to Porter’s Gap is available for a fee. Parking at the start is limited; parking attendants will assist at Lake Howard. Restrooms will be available at the start and finish. Camping at Lake Howard is permitted for a small donation. Race rules state no refunds, no race day registration, no entry transfers, and no deferrals. Strollers, animals, bicycles, and unentered runners are not allowed on course; pets must be kept at least 50 feet from aid stations and start or finish areas. Results will be posted online.
