Rebecca Mountain 50 Mile - Sylacauga, AL
Rebecca Mountain 50 Mile is a trail race weekend organized by Pinhoti Trail Races near Sylacauga, Alabama. The event offers three distances and uses long sections of single-track on the Pinhoti Trail and the Sylaward Trails. The 50 Miler is a point to point course from Porter’s Gap Trailhead to Lake Howard that includes approximately 31 miles of single-track on the Pinhoti Trail, about six miles of forest service road, and roughly 12 miles on the Sylaward Trails. The total elevation gain for the 50 Miler is about 5,171 feet. The 50K follows the same corridor for the first 19 miles, then continues on forest service roads into the Sylaward Trails. The 25K is a lollipop course on the Sylaward Trails with start and finish at Lake Howard.
Time limits are stated as 16 hours for the 50 Miler and 10 hours for the 50K. Aid stations for the 50 Miler are placed at Pinnacle, Powerline, Bulls Gap, Rebecca Tower (drop bag), Trammel, and Bill’s Creek Loop, with additional stations for the 50K including a water-only stop at Rocky Mountain Church. Bus transport from Lake Howard to Porter’s Gap is available for a fee and parking at the start is limited. Restrooms are available at the start and finish. The organizer notes no refunds, no race day registration, no transfers, and certain items are prohibited on course, including strollers, bicycles, and unentered runners.
