Rebecca Mountain Trail Races
The Rebecca Mountain event consists of three trail distances taking place in Sylacauga and Talladega, Alabama. The event features a point-to-point course for the longer distances and a lollipop-style loop for the shorter distance.
Available distances include:
- 50 Miler (Point-to-Point)
- 50K (Point-to-Point)
- 25K
The 50 Miler course begins at Porter's Gap Trailhead and finishes at Lake Howard. It includes 31 miles of single-track on the Pinhoti Trail, followed by forest service roads and 12 miles of the Sylaward Trails. Participants experience approximately 5,171 feet of elevation gain. The route passes through the ridge of Horn Mountain, featuring several overlooks such as Wormy’s Pulpit and Heath Cliff. There is a 16-hour time limit for this distance.
The 50K route shares the first 19 miles with the 50 Miler course, passing through Bulls Gap before connecting to the Sylaward Trails for the final five miles. This distance has a 10-hour time limit. The 25K starts and finishes at Lake Howard, following the Sylaward trails to the Bill's Creek Loop and back.
Aid stations are situated along the courses, with seven stations for the 50 Miler and five for the 50K. Drop bags are permitted at the Rebecca Tower station for the 50 Miler. Bus transportation is available for a fee to transport runners from the finish area at Lake Howard to the start at Porter's Gap. Primitive camping is available at Lake Howard for a donation.
