Race Details

The Rebecca Mountain 50 Mile is a point-to-point trail race. It takes place on Saturday, September 12, 2026, starting at Porters Gap Trailhead on Highway 77. The finish is at Lake Howard (1 Boat Dock Lane) in Sylacauga, Alabama.

Distances

The event features three race distances:

  • 50 Miler
  • 50K
  • 25K

Course Description

The 50-mile course uses the Pinhoti Trail, forest service roads, and the Sylaward Trails. The race begins at Porter’s Gap. The first section is a climb up Horn Mountain on the Pinhoti Trail, followed by a ridge run across Horn and Rebecca Mountains. After approximately 31 miles on the Pinhoti single-track, runners transition to forest service roads for about six miles, then finish on the Sylaward Trails for the final 12 miles. The total elevation gain is approximately 5,171 feet.

Time Limits and Start Time

The 50 Miler has a 16-hour time limit. The 50K has a 10-hour time limit. Both the 50 Miler and 50K start at 7:30 AM CST.

Aid Stations

For the 50 Miler, there are seven aid stations plus the finish line. Key stations include Pinnacle (mile 7), Powerline (mile 13), Bulls Gap (mile 19), Rebecca Tower (mile 25.5, drop bag location), and Trammel (mile 31).

Logistics

Packet pickup is available on Friday afternoon at Lake Howard and on race morning at the start line. Bus transportation from the finish line (Lake Howard) to the start line (Porters Gap) is available for a fee; buses depart at 6:15 AM CST. Parking at the start is very limited. Restrooms are available at the start and finish lines. Primitive camping is available at the finish line area for a donation.

Results and Awards

Results are posted online. Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the first male and female masters and grand masters. All finishers receive a medal.
