The Pine Mountain 500 is a multi-format event in Iron Mountain, Michigan. The main activity involves racing up the 500 stairs of Giant Pine Mountain.
Event Details
There are five different event formats:
- Pine Mountain 500
- Pine Mountain 500 - Deuce
- Pine Mountain 500 - Extreme
- Pine Muddin' 500 - Trail Run
- Pine Muddin' 500 - Trail Run - Deuce
Participants in the main Pine Mountain 500 events start at the top of Pine Mountain. They race down Kramer Drive to Lower Pine Mountain Road/Hibbard Street, then turn onto Pine Mountain Road to race to the Pine Mountain stairs. The event is chip-timed. Participants receive both an overall time and a time for the 500-stair climb. The Deuce event requires completing the course twice, and the Extreme event requires completing it four times.
The new Pine Muddin' 500 events combine a trail run on a to-be-determined route with the stair climb.
