Pilot Hill 25K

The Pilot Hill 25K Classic is a trail footrace near Laramie, Wyoming, run continuously since the 1970s. The event offers two distances:

  • 25K
  • 10K

The 25K follows rugged two-track and single-track trails, crosses sandy flats, moves over low-grade hills, and climbs weathered limestone to the Pilot Hill summit at about 8600 ft. From the top there are views of the Laramie Valley, the Snowy Range to the west, and the Rawahs and Front Range to the south in Colorado. The 10K option includes sections of crushed gravel path and single track and also offers views of the Snowy Range, Jelm Mountain, Sheep Mountain, and the Laramie Valley.

The course is marked with neon pin flags and directional signage at intersections; runners are responsible for knowing the course ahead of time. The 25K has two aid stations; one at 3.7 miles with water and Skratch only, and a summit aid station with water, Skratch, and snacks. The first aid station is passed again at mile 12.6. This is a cupless race; participants must bring their own bottle, cup, or hydration bladder.

Registration opens in February, with no race day registration. Proceeds from the event are donated to Pilot Hill Inc. Postrace food and refreshments are provided at the finish area. Race photos will be taken on cell phones and shared with registrants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
