Pilot Hill 25K
The Pilot Hill 25K Classic in Laramie, WY is a trail event offering two distances:
- 25K
- 10K
The course runs on rugged two-track and single-track trails. Runners cross sandy flats, navigate low-grade hills, and climb weathered limestone to the Pilot Hill summit at about 8600 ft. From the top there are views of the Laramie Valley, the Snowy Range of the Medicine Bow Mountains, and ranges to the south in Colorado. The 10K option includes sections of crushed gravel path and single track and shares many of the scenic viewpoints.
Aid stations: there are two aid stations, one of which is visited twice. The lower aid station supplies water and Skratch, while the summit station provides water, Skratch, and snacks. This is a cupless race; participants must bring their own bottle, cup, or water bladder. The event provides food and refreshments at the finish area.
Timing and awards: the 25K course cut-off is four hours and thirty minutes, and the 10K cut-off is three hours and thirty minutes. Cash prizes include a $50 prize to the first male and female to the top aid station and a $50 prize to the first overall male and female 25K finishers. Age group awards are given to the top three in three age categories.
Registration opens on February 1, with registration closing May 29. There is no race day registration. Proceeds are donated to Pilot Hill Inc to support recreation, habitat protection, and aquifer conservation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
