Pilgrim's Reckoning
Pilgrim's Reckoning is an 81-mile ultra running event on the Bunyan Trail in Bedfordshire run as a single continuous loop with a 24 hour completion limit. The course covers 1,219 metres of elevation gain and carries a 100km UTMB index score. The route is described as runnable with no technical sections, a few gentle hills, and long stretches of open countryside linking villages and churches.
Support on course includes seven fully stocked aid stations and a drop bag option at the halfway point. Live tracking is provided and all finishers receive a bespoke medal and a T shirt. Participant safety is supported by comprehensive medical cover supplied by A 2 E Medical Services. Organisers require specific kit to be carried at all times and random kit checks may take place.
Guided recce weekends run over two dates and are led at a social pace; each recce day covers approximately 20 miles to help participants familiarise themselves with terrain and navigation. Recce pricing is listed as £20 for a single day and £30 for the full weekend.
The event base is near Manton Lane in Bedford. Accommodation options are available within walking or short taxi distance, and Bedford is served by direct trains from London St Pancras with onward access to the start and finish by taxi or a 25 to 30 minute walk. Road access and parking are available via nearby motorways and A roads. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
