Pi Day 5k: a 3.14 Miler
The Pi Day 5k is an annual event held at Hawk Island Park in Lansing, Michigan. The event marks its 5th anniversary in 2026 and serves as a fundraiser for the Impression 5 Science Center's scholarship program. These programs aim to increase access to science exhibits and educational experiences for families in the local community.
Participants can choose from several event categories:
- 5k (In Person or Virtual)
- 10k (In Person or Virtual)
- Kids 5k
- Kids 10k
The course is an out and back route starting at the southwest corner of the Red Tail Shelter within Hawk Island Park. All finishers receive a race t-shirt, a commemorative medal, and a slice of pie provided by the Grand Traverse Pie Company. Results are calculated using chip timing provided by the Michigan Running Foundation.
Top finishers in different age groups may receive prizes such as full pies or gift cards. Age categories range from under 14 to 80 and above. For those unable to attend in person, virtual options allow participants to receive their shirt and medal by mail.
