Event Overview
The Manchester - Wings of Remembrance 2026 is a running event held in Alexandra Park, Greater Manchester. Taking place on Remembrance Sunday, the event includes a two-minute silence at 11:00 am to mark the occasion. The course is situated within a historic green space dating back to the 1860s and follows a predominantly tarmac route.
Course Details
The event follows a looped course where participants can complete as many laps as they choose within a seven-hour time limit. Each lap measures 3.28 miles and features approximately 246 feet of elevation gain. Because the route is on tarmac, road shoes are suitable for all weather conditions. The venue includes on-site public toilets and a café.
Distances
Participants can select their distance on the day by completing a specific number of laps:
- 3.28 miles: Minimum distance of one lap
- 10 km: Just over two laps with 492 ft elevation
- 13.1 miles: Four laps for a Half Marathon with 984 ft elevation
- 26.2 miles: Eight laps for a Marathon with 1,968 ft elevation
- Ultra distance: Nine or more laps
Logistics
Registration takes place on the morning of the event, and participants must be at least 18 years old to enter. Free public parking is available in the surrounding area, including a small car park off Kings Road and on-road parking on Queens Road. The event is held under TRA and UKA rules and supports the charity War Paws. All finishers receive a commemorative medal featuring a Lancaster Bomber.
