The Drop - Manchester (event details)
The event takes place on 25 October 2026 with event HQ at Up & Running, Unit 4, Barton Arcade, Manchester M3 2BH. Entry is open to people aged 18 and over on 25/10/2026. Two distance options are offered with separate prices:
- 10 miles : £53.00
- 15 miles : £55.00
Participants may enter solo or as a team.
Format and rules
On arrival participants hand in all electronic devices, watches, and navigation aids and receive a race number and a sealed emergency bag that must be carried. Competitors board a bus and wear a blackout blindfold or blackout goggles if preferred, then are driven to a secret drop-off location. From the drop-off the objective is to make the way back to HQ on foot. Distances are measured as the crow flies; the actual ground covered will usually be longer. Rules include no GPS, no maps (unless issued on the day), no outside help, no shortcuts, and breaking the emergency bag seal leads to disqualification.
Safety and tracking
A live GPS tracking system is provided as part of event safety. Access is password-protected and login details are sent to participants before the event. Trackers are typically accurate to within 5 metres; placement in an outside pocket improves signal. Trackers must be returned at the end of the event or a £175 replacement fee will apply.
