Event overview
The South Wales - St David's Day Run takes place in Cardiff Bay on Sunday 1 March 2026. The event is a timed, multi-lap format with a 7-hour overall time limit. Participants may run or walk and may complete as many laps as they choose within the time limit. A finishers medal is provided to attendees, with an optional lower-priced entry that excludes the medal.
Course and entry
The lap distance is 5.3 km (3.28 miles) on an out-and-back route along Cardiff Bay. The surface is mainly tarmac or pavement with one short wooden boardwalk section. Each lap has about 23 m of elevation gain and loss. The minimum recorded distance is 3.28 miles or the distance completed within the 7-hour limit.
Entry prices listed are: £33.00 (affiliated) and £35.00 (unaffiliated); a no-medal entry option starts from £20. The event operates flexible, staggered start times so participants can start without a fixed mass start. The event base is at the Norwegian Church Arts Centre, Harbour Drive, Cardiff Bay (postcode CF10 4PA). Car parking is available at The Lock Keepers Cottage car park; parking on Harbour Drive is limited to three hours. A Welsh Athletics race licence has been applied for.
