Event Information

The Granny's Bay Challenge is a 5.24-mile loop course in its fifth year. The event takes place in Lytham St. Annes, Lancashire. The course is on a flat tarmac path along the Ribble estuary.

Runners start at the Fylde Spitfire Memorial on the Inner Promenade. The route follows the coast path past Fairhaven Lake and Granny's Bay to Lytham Green, offering views of Lytham Windmill and the estuary. A turn-around point is at the end of Lytham Green before returning to the start.

Participants can complete as many laps as they wish within a 6-hour time limit. Completing a single lap qualifies as a finish, with an official time and medal awarded. For specific distances:

  • To run a marathon, complete 5 laps.
  • To run a half marathon, complete 2 full laps plus a 2.62-mile loop.

All participants must be over 18. Runners aged 18-19 have a maximum distance of a marathon, while those over 20 have no maximum distance limit. The event is held under UK Athletics rules. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
