Event details
The Granny's Bay Challenge takes place on Sunday, 8 March 2026 at Fylde Spitfire Memorial, Inner Promenade, Lytham St. Annes, Lancashire. The event is a 6 hour timed event with a maximum of 100 entrants. Entries close on 7 March 2026. Entry fees are listed as £28 for affiliated runners and £30 for unattached runners. All participants must be at least 18 years old. Runners aged 18-19 may compete up to a marathon distance; runners over 20 have no maximum distance. Refunds are not permitted. Entries may be transferred or deferred up to one week prior to the event. The event will be held under UK Athletics rules; Trail Running Association permit number is listed as TBA.
Course and race format
The course is a 5.24 mile out-and-back loop on a flat tarmac path along the Ribble estuary. The route starts at the Fylde Spitfire Memorial, follows the new coast path past Fairhaven Lake, passes Granny's Bay and runs onto Lytham Green, then returns to the Spitfire Memorial. The route offers views of Lytham windmill and across the estuary. Runners may complete as many or as few laps as they wish within the 6 hour time limit. Distances described in the event:
- 5.24 mile lap
- 2.62 mile short loop (used in half-marathon)
- Marathon requires five laps
- Half-marathon requires two full laps plus the short 2.62 mile loop
