PFW Running - Brockholes Bimble
This trail running event takes place within the Brockholes Nature Reserve in Preston, a 250-acre site managed by the Wildlife Trust. The location is characterized by its diverse environment, including various lakes, woodlands, and the River Ribble. The reserve is also recognized for featuring the first floating visitor centre in the United Kingdom.
Participants follow a marked route consisting of paths that wind through the reserve's natural landscapes. The course profile is described as undulating. The event offers several distance options based on a lap system:
- 10k: One lap of the course plus a short out-and-back section.
- Half Marathon: Three laps of the course.
- Marathon: Six laps of the course.
- Ultra: Multiple laps completed within a six-hour time limit.
For the ultra distance, participants may complete as many laps as they wish, provided the final lap begins no later than 5 hours and 30 minutes after the start. The event is held under UKA rules and has been issued a Trail Running Association race permit.
The race includes medical cover and a support station providing water, cordial, cola, and both sweet and savoury snacks. Finishers receive a bespoke medal and post-run items. Participation is limited to individuals aged 18 and over, with runners aged 18-19 restricted to a maximum distance of a marathon. This race is part of a three-day event series held at the same location. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
