Petzl Night Trails - Salcey Forest
The Petzl Night Trails - Salcey Forest is a evening trail running event located at Salcey Forest, a Forestry Commission site near Northampton. The course takes place in a natural setting and consists of a 10 km distance.
The route is essentially a two-lap course that is primarily flat, though it includes minor elevation changes. The surface is fundamentally crushed stone; however, depending on the weather conditions, the ground may become slippery or muddy due to tree detritus. The entire route is fully marked for participants.
As a night event, a head torch or chest torch is a mandatory requirement for all runners. Representatives from Petzl are present at the venue to provide demonstration equipment for testing. The race offers separate categories for standard runners and canicross participants. Canicross runners start their wave approximately ten minutes before the main field in a mass start format.

The venue features on-site facilities including a cafe and toilets. Parking is available for a fee at the forest site. Participants can choose between receiving a finisher medal or a tree token. The tree token contributes to a tree-planting initiative and contains wildflower seeds for personal planting. Water and electrolytes are provided in biodegradable cups on the course, and hot drinks are available at the event hub. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
