Event overview
The Petzl Night Trails 10K at Salcey Forest is organised by Big Bear Events and is scheduled for 21 November 2025. The event is a trail 10k on a fully marked, two-lap route. Running at night requires a head or chest torch; Petzl will be at the event with demo head torches available to try.
The event offers standard finish items and an alternative to a medal: a Big Bear Tree Token, which results in a tree being planted and contains wildflower seeds.
Logistics and course
Salcey Forest is a Forestry Commission site near Northampton with a cafe and toilets. The post code for sat navs is NN7 2HX. Parking is charged; organisers have arranged an evening parking rate of £3.50. The closest train station is Northampton and the site is described as 18 minutes from Northampton and 9 minutes from Junction 15 of the M1.
The surface is mainly crushed stone with tree detritus; ground conditions may be slippery or muddy depending on weather. Canicross is permitted and is run as a separate start from the main field; entrants must select the Canicross option when entering. Water and electrolyte will be available on course using biodegradable cups, and hot drinks will be available before and after the event.
