Petzl Night Trails 10K - Salcey Forest is a trail running event held on Friday 21 November 2025. The race distance is 10k and the route is a fully marked, two-lap trail course. Participants are required to use a head or chest torch to run.
Location and course
The venue is Salcey Forest, a Forestry England site near Northampton (post code NN7 2HX). The surface is mainly crushed stone with tree detritus; sections can become slippy or muddy depending on weather. The site has a cafe and toilets. The closest train station is Northampton and the venue is described as about 18 minutes from Northampton and 9 minutes from Junction 15 of the M1.
Entry, facilities and extras
Parking is charged and a special evening rate of £3.50 has been negotiated for entrants. Biodegradable cups with water and electrolyte will be available on course and hot drinks will be offered before and after the event. Petzl will attend with demo head torches. A canicross race is offered; canicross runners start 10 minutes before the main field in a mass start and must enter the canicross race option. Entry fees are tiered: before 21/10/2025 £16, after 21/10/2025 £21, with an extra £2 for unaffiliated entrants. Optional fundraising for Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity is available and donations made through the sign-up process are passed to the charity.
