Petzl Night Trails 10K - Salcey Forest
The event is a night trail 10k at Salcey Forest, NN7 2HX. The route is fully marked and run as essentially a two lap course on crushed stone; tree detritus can make the ground slippy and mucky depending on recent weather. Salcey Forest is described as fundamentally flat, though any uphill on a 10k can feel steep.
A head or chest torch is required for participants; entrants without a torch will not be permitted to run. Petzl will attend with demo head torches available to try before, during or after the event. The organiser provides biodegradable cups with water or electrolyte on course and hot drinks before and after the run.
There is a canicross option. Canicross runners start ten minutes before the main field and must enter the Canicross race specifically. The organiser notes that the mass start can excite dogs and recommends considering the format if a dog may react badly.
Parking at the venue requires payment; a special evening offer of £3.50 has been negotiated for this event. Entry pricing is tiered: before 20/10/2026 the fee is £16, after 20/10/2026 the fee is £21, and unaffiliated entrants pay an extra £2.
The organiser offers an option to receive a Big Bear Tree Token instead of a medal; each token corresponds to a tree planting and contains wildflower seeds. The organiser also supports Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity with optional fundraising or donations at entry. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
