Event overview

Petzl Night Trails 10k at Salcey Forest is a trail running event held on 24 March 2026 and organised by Big Bear Events. The race distance is 10k on marked trails and is run in low-light conditions. A head or chest torch is mandatory.

Venue and course

The event takes place at Salcey Forest, NN7 2HX, a Forestry Commission site with a cafe and toilets. The route is essentially a two-lap course on crushed stone with tree detritus; ground can become slippy or muddy depending on weather. The site is described as fundamentally flat.

Entries, fees and facilities

Entry fees are listed in a range around the mid-teens to low twenties of pounds; unaffiliated entrants pay an extra £2. There will be biodegradable cups with water or electrolyte on course and hot drinks available before and after the race. Parking is available but not free; a special evening parking rate of £3.50 is mentioned.

Canicross, equipment and charity

A canicross option is offered; canicross starters set off 10 minutes before the main field and use a mass start. Petzl will attend with head-torch demo kit. The organiser has a partnership with Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity and offers entrants the option to raise funds or donate during sign up. The event provides a tree token alternative to a medal, with a tree planted for each token and wildflower seeds included. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
