Petzl Night Trails 10K - Salcey Forest
Petzl Night Trails 10K is a night trail running event scheduled for Friday 20 November 2026 at Salcey Forest, NN7 2HX, a Forestry England site with a cafe and toilets near Northampton. The course is a fully marked two‑lap trail on crushed stone with tree detritus; under wet conditions sections can become slippy and muddy. Salcey Forest is fundamentally flat though short climbs may feel more notable on a 10k route.
A head or chest torch is required to run. Petzl will attend with demo head torches available to try before, during or after the event. Water and electrolyte will be provided on course in biodegradable cups, and hot drinks will be available before and after the race.
Canicross is permitted. Canicross starters are sent off ten minutes before the main field in a mass start; handlers should consider whether their dog will tolerate the busy start environment and must enter the Canicross race separately. Parking at the venue requires payment; a negotiated evening rate of £3.50 will be arranged for entrants. The venue is about 18 minutes from Northampton and 9 minutes from Junction 15 of the M1; the closest train station is Northampton.
Entry fees follow a tiered pricing structure: before 20/10/2026 the price is £16, after that date it is £21, and unaffiliated entrants pay an additional £2. There is no booking fee. The event has run before and has received Racecheck Gold Awards and over 150 reviews averaging 4.8 out of 5. As an alternative to a medal, a tree token is offered to support tree planting and provide wildflower seeds. The event partners with Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity for optional fundraising or donations during entry. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
