Petzl Night Trails 10K - Salcey Forest
This is a night trail run on 20 November 2026 at Salcey Forest, NN7 2HX. The event is a trail 10k run, organised as a fully marked two lap course on crushed stone. Ground conditions will depend on the weather and can be slippy or muddy where tree detritus is present. Salcey Forest is described as fundamentally flat, though small climbs may feel more significant on a 10k.
A head or chest torch is required to take part; entrants without a torch will not be allowed to run. Petzl will be present with demo head torches available to try before, during or after the event. Biodegradable cups with water or electrolyte will be available on course for this event, and hot drinks will be provided before and after.
Canicross entries are part of the event. Canicross runners start 10 minutes before the main field in a mass start; dogs can become excited in a mass start and organisers suggest entrants consider this when choosing to enter and where to position themselves. Participants must enter the Canicross race if running with a dog.
The venue is a Forestry England site with a cafe and toilets. Parking is paid and a special evening rate of £3.50 has been arranged. Travel notes state the site is about 18 minutes from Northampton, 9 minutes from M1 Junction 15, and the nearest train station is Northampton.
Entry fees follow a tiered pricing model: entries before 20 October 2026 are £16, after that date £21, and unaffiliated entrants pay £2 extra. Finishers receive a medal and goodies, with an alternative Big Bear Tree Token instead of a medal; each token results in a tree being planted and contains wildflower seeds. The event has a partnership with Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity and offers entrants the option to fundraise or donate, with 100% of donated funds going to the charity.
