Event overview

The Peterson Ridge Rumble takes place April 12, 2026, near Sisters, Oregon. The event uses the Peterson Ridge and Metolius-Windigo multi-use trails. The race is organized by Run Like Ardy, limits total entrants to 500 across all distances, and is a fundraiser for the Sisters High School Cross Country team and a recurring donor to Sisters Trails Alliance. Distances

  • 40 miles: mostly trail and some dirt road; total vert about 2,700'.
  • Trail marathon: mostly trail with some dirt road; total vert about 1,600'.
  • 20 miles: gentle uphill then downhill; total vert about 1,200'.

Course and logistics

All distances start and finish at Sisters Middle School, 15200 McKenzie Highway, Sisters, OR. The 40-mile course includes long uphill sections and mixed terrain; mud and snowy sections are possible. The marathon follows the 40-mile course for the majority before finishing with the 20-mile route. Aid stations occur roughly every 3 to 7 miles.

Aid stations, crew, and finish amenities

Aid station provisions vary by distance: the 40-mile has five full and two limited stations; the marathon has three full and two limited stations; the 20-mile has four full stations. Drop bags are permitted at designated aid stations for the 40-mile and the marathon. No crewing is allowed for the 20-mile; limited crew access applies at specified stations for the longer distances. Post-race food is provided, showers are available in the field house locker rooms, and all finishers receive Rumble finisher socks. Awards are given by overall, masters (45-59), veteran (60+), and top dog in the 20-mile. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
