Penicuik 10k 2026
The Penicuik 10k is a road race held in the town of Penicuik, which is reaching its 41st edition in 2026. The event is held under UK Athletics Rules and Scottish Athletics Licence. The course is described as an undulating 10 km route that begins and ends at the Bog Road Playing Fields.
The route leads participants out of Penicuik toward Howgate and the Peebles Road. Along the return section, the course provides views of the Pentland Hills and features a downhill segment at Mile Brae. Due to requirements from Police Scotland, the race has a strictly enforced time limit of 1.5 hours.
Participants must be at least 17 years old on the day of the event. While registration is primarily conducted online, entry on the day may be available if the race capacity has not been met. For those entering on the day, a medal is not guaranteed immediately but can be provided within one week.
The event utilizes road closures until runners reach the top of Pomathorn Road. After this point, participants are required to move to pavements where available and follow all instructions provided by race marshals. Facilities at the site include local vendors providing hot drinks and home-baked goods for charity.
