The Pendle Pool Triathlon is an annual multisport event held at the West Craven Sports Centre in Barnoldswick, Lancashire. The event takes place in a semi-rural setting and offers multiple race formats, including Triathlon, Duathlon, Aquabike, and Aquathlon. Participants swim in a pool, while the cycling and running stages take place on laps surrounding the leisure centre.
The course is designed with multiple laps for the bike and run segments to provide spectators with several opportunities to view the participants. For the Sprint distance, the bike course consists of two 11 km laps, and the run follows two 2.5 km laps. All participants are required to wear a helmet during the cycle leg and must mount and dismount their bikes at designated flagged areas outside the transition zone.
Available distances and formats include:
- Sprint Triathlon: 400m swim, 22km bike, and 5km run
- Super Sprint Triathlon: 200m swim, 11km bike, and 2.5km run
- Sprint Duathlon: 5km run, 22km bike, and 2.5km run
- Super Sprint Duathlon: 2.5km run, 11km bike, and 2.5km run
- Sprint Aquabike: 400m swim and 22km bike
- Super Sprint Aquabike: 200m swim and 11km bike
- Sprint Aquathlon: 400m swim and 5km run
- Super Sprint Aquathlon: 200m swim and 2.5km run
Registration takes place on-site at the leisure centre. The event features chip timing and finish line photography. Participants receive a custom Pendle Tri Club medal, water, and sweets upon completion. Facilities at the location include free parking nearby at the local school or on-street.
