18th Pearls of Hope 5k
The 18th Pearls of Hope 5k is a community fundraising event held in Rockford Park in Wilmington, Delaware on October 3, 2026. The event is organized by Pearls of Hope Foundation, Inc. and lists local sorority chapters among its sponsors.
The program includes a general 5K run/walk, a Competitive Walking 5K that requires participants to walk the entire course, and a children's entry for ages 12 and under. Registration pricing is tiered; pre-registration and day-of options are published for each entry type. The first 150 registered participants receive event tee shirts. Post-race refreshments will be available and an auction is planned.
Awards are presented by overall placement and age group. Top finisher awards for overall and masters positions are scored by gun time while other age-group awards use chip (net) time. Awards include top male and female, top 3 in ten-year age groups from 12 & under through 80 & over, top walkers, and a team award for the largest registered team.
Timing is managed with chip timing using the MYLAPS BibTag system and results are posted online. Event policies include no dogs allowed due to insurance liability, non-transferable bibs, and no refunds on registrations. Proceeds support New Castle County community projects such as the Salvation Army, Urban Promise, YMCA, ADA, AHA, and the Alzheimer Association.
