Course, rules and on-site services
The organizer describes the swim, bike and run courses as flat and fast. Much of the bike route runs along Marine Drive on a section closed to all but local traffic. Aid stations are posted about every 2 miles on the run course; athletes must carry their own bike hydration. Porta-potties are provided at the start/finish and along the run. A bike mechanic will be on site for basic service. USAT rules are followed: no drafting, helmets required, and no music during the bike. For running segments, only one earbud may be used.
Packet pickup, awards and beneficiary
Packet pickup is available on-site the day before and on race morning. Awards are given to top overall and masters finishers and to age-group top three places; Clydesdale and Athena categories are not eligible for age-group awards. The event supports the National Scleroderma Foundation and high school programs; past contributions from related events have exceeded $3 million. Post-race amenities include food, beverages, vendors, music and on-site beer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
