The PDX Triathlon Festival at Blue Lake Regional Park in Fairview, Oregon, serves as the opening event for the Northwest multisport season. The festival features a variety of endurance disciplines held on a course characterized by its flat and fast terrain. Much of the cycling portion takes place on Marine Drive, which is closed to most vehicle traffic during the event.
Participants can choose from several multisport and running formats:
- Olympic Triathlon, Duathlon, and AquaBike
- Sprint Triathlon, Duathlon, and AquaBike
- Super Sprint (also titled My 1st Tri)
- Paddle Triathlon (incorporating kayaking or paddle-boarding)
- 5K Run
The event includes specialized divisions such as a non-competitive Friends and Family wave, allowing participants of different ages and genders to start together. Competitive categories include standard age groups from 15 and under to 80 and over, as well as Clydesdale and Athena divisions. Relay options are also available for teams.
On-site amenities include a Sports and Fitness Expo and a post-event celebration with food and beverages. Water stations are positioned approximately every 2 miles on the run course. Participants receive a technical shirt and a finisher's medal. All equipment, including various bicycle types with functioning brakes, must be in proper working order.
