About the race
Paws to the Rescue 5K is a community fundraiser held at Victory Fields in Lafayette Hill, PA, dedicated to supporting Hand2Paw and local animal rescues. The event is organized by two seniors from Plymouth Whitemarsh High School as part of a school business project. All proceeds go directly to Hand2Paw, whose work focuses on paid internships and skills development for young adults from underrepresented communities.
The event includes multiple on-site and virtual distances:
- 5 km - in-person 5K run
- 5 km - in-person student 5K (Colonial SD student division)
- 5 km - virtual 5K option
- 1 mile - fun run/walk
- 400 m - kids dash for ages 2-10
Awards for the in-person 5K include top three overall per gender and age-group awards by gender for each listed age bracket. The course surface includes pavement and grass for some events; other short events use pavement only. The event is planned Rain or Shine.
Amenities include a race t-shirt (guaranteed by 11/2/25; included for 5K entrants, $5 up-charge for other participants), medals for every participant, water and snacks, a dog adoption center hosted by Waiting On A Friend Animal Rescue, free race photography, and a PWHS school store and DECA booth. The 5K will be professionally timed by Bryn Mawr Racing Co., with results posted by that company.
