Paws & Soles Saving Lives with Strides 5K & 10K Run/Walk + Kiddie Dash
This event is a fundraiser hosted by Friends of Somerset Regional Animal Shelter to support the Cupid Fund, which pays for extraordinary medical care for shelter animals beyond routine services. It takes place at Duke Island Park in Bridgewater, New Jersey, and includes organized running and walking events alongside vendors, food, and opportunities to meet shelter animals.
Distances featured at the event include:
- 10K
- 5K
- Kiddie Dash: 25 yards for ages 4 and under
- Kiddie Dash: 50 yards for ages 5 to 7
Racing features include a USATF-NJ certified course at Duke Island Park and chip timing using Chronotrack RFID systems. Awards are given to overall winners and in age groups; 5K top three finishers in each age category are recognized and awards are based on chip time.
Dogs may participate in the 5K and receive a doggy goody bag while supplies last. Dogs are required to start at the back of the starting group behind runners. To ensure safety and comfort for all participants, rules include using six foot leads or shorter, keeping dogs current on vaccinations, not bringing females in heat, avoiding animals with dangerous behavior, and cleaning up after pets.
Participants registered by September 15 are guaranteed a t shirt or long sleeve shirt; registrants may decline the shirt option. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
