Patrolman Legacy 5K Run/Walk : Mansfield Township Community Park
This is the second annual memorial 5K run/walk held at Mansfield Township Community Park in Columbus, New Jersey. The course follows the paved Kinkora Trail, which runs through woods and preserved farmland. The event distance is 5K.
Registration opens 25 May 2026 and remains available through 19 September 2026; the registration fee is $50. The event is planned to take place rain or shine. If weather creates a safety hazard, the host may delay or cancel the event; the event will not be postponed and registration fees will be treated as donations in the case of cancellation. A free t-shirt giveaway has a registration cut-off of midnight on 8 September 2026. Participants who register after that date will have shirts ordered on 21 September 2026 and will be notified of pickup arrangements once shirts are received.
The event is held in memory of a local patrolman who died from sudden cardiac arrest and whose rare genetic heart condition, Brugada Syndrome, was identified after death. Proceeds support student-athlete scholarships at a regional high school and The Families Behind the Badge Children’s Foundation. To date the event has funded scholarships for three student-athletes and donated $4,000 to the foundation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
