Patriotic Community Run in Plano
The Patriots Run 5K is an athletic event held at the Red Tail Pavilion in Oak Point Park, Plano. This location is also the home of the Plano Flags of Honor. The event serves as a fundraiser to support veteran assistance programs, student scholarships, and various outreach efforts focused on serving veterans and their families.
Participants can choose between two main distances:
- 5K Run
- 1-Mile Fun Run
The morning activities include a Presentation of Colors by the Allen High School MCJROTC and the Pledge of Allegiance. A scheduled warm-up session is provided for all participants before the start of the races. For safety and logistics, wheeled participants are given a 5-minute head start.
The event concludes with a community celebration held at the pavilion. This gathering includes an awards ceremony, food, and music. Participants and spectators can also visit sponsor booths and participate in vendor prize giveaways. The event is open to those who wish to run, walk, ride, or attend as supporters.
