The Patriots Run
The Patriots Run is an annual athletic event held to honor first responders and military members. The event takes place at the Aspiria Campus in Overland Park, Kansas. The courses are USATF certified, utilizing a 1.5-mile loop format for several of the distances.
Participants can choose from a wide range of distances and formats:
- 5K Run (2 full laps plus 0.1 miles)
- Half Marathon (8 full laps plus 1.1 miles)
- Marathon (17 full laps plus 0.5 miles)
- Ultra Marathon (Individual endurance)
- Heavy Team Relay (Rucksack required)
- Light Team Relay (No rucksack)
The individual Ultra Marathon and the Team Relays operate on a fixed time limit of 9 hours and 11 minutes. Individual ultra runners attempt to complete as many laps as possible within this duration. For the relay events, teams of up to five members compete in a relay style. To participate in either the Light or Heavy Team Relay, a minimum fundraising or donation amount is required per team.
The Heavy Team Relay includes a weight requirement for the rucksack based on team composition: 35 lbs for male teams, 30 lbs for mixed teams, and 25 lbs for female teams. Relay teams are provided with a designated pit area and may use a 10x10 tent for rest and equipment storage. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in the 5K, Half Marathon, Marathon, and individual Ultra Marathon. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
